In 1959, Freeman left the Air Force and tried his fortunes out West, moving to Hollywood to see if he could make it as an actor. "I had this very clear epiphany," he told AARP Magazine. He also realized that he didn't want to be shooting down other people. Instead of darting around the skies, Freeman was relegated to on-the-ground activity as a mechanic and radar technician. ![]() The military, though, proved to be much different than what he'd expected. And so, upon graduating high school in 1955, Morgan turned down a partial drama scholarship and joined the U.S. Military Serviceīut while Freeman loved to act, flying - in particular the idea of being a fighter pilot-was in his heart of hearts. To his surprise, and probably school administrators, the 12-year-old proved to be an immediate natural on the stage, taking top honors in the program. He was in junior high school and, as punishment for pulling out a chair from underneath a girl he had a crush on, Freeman was ordered to participate in the school's drama competition. It was by chance that Freeman himself got into acting. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can get them either at the public transport (called BKK) point inside the terminal as well as from the ticket machine at the bus stop. The ticket for the bus 100E costs 900 forints while for 200E it costs 350 forints (if you’re travelling further with metro from Kobanya-Kispest station you need to purchase another ticket). Both buses depart from the arrivals level, the bus stop is located between terminals 2A and 2B. ![]() In Budapest you can either take the direct bus 100E to Deak Ferenc Ter or the bus 200E to Kobanya-Kispest metro station. All public transport tickets work for this connection. From the center allow yourself at least 40 minutes for the journey. First you need to take green metro line A to the station Nadrazi Veleslavin from where bus no 119 will take you directly to the airport, stopping in front of both terminals. To easiest and cheapest way to get to Prague airport is by metro and bus. To book the flights go directly to the website of Ryanair or Czech Airlines and read carefully what you are about to pay for. There’re slightly more expensive, (at least around €50), but they have less strict baggage policy and overall nicer experience. Right now there’re Ryanair flights between Prague and Budapest every day but Thursday.Ĭzech Airlines, the national Czech carrier, offers couple of flights per day. Ryanair, the low cost airlines, offers cheap tickets, starting at €10 one way but you need to be careful as you need to pay extra for every single thing: if you’d like to take on board more than one tiny piece of luggage, if you’d like to seat next to your travel companion etc. There are two airlines that offer direct flights between these two capitals, with the flying time less than 1 hour and 30 minutes. A really fast way to travel between Prague and Budapest is flying. ![]() ![]() ![]() I added the image of Che Guevera to the other photo of the man on the stoop using layers in Photoshop. That means you are never working on your original file, all edits are done on layers on top of your image so they can be altered, manipulated, or deleted at any time. Layers in Photoshop is the basis for non-destructive editing. My course starts at the very beginning, helping beginner photographers understand the software from their perspective, not an experienced editor. I was inspired to make a Photoshop for Photographers course, with the complete beginner in mind. So yes, Photoshop still has one of the best photo editing RAW processors available, in my opinion. It is the one with which I am comparing all the other programs, to see if they measure up. ![]() But there are also simpler tools available.Īdobe Camera Raw (ACR) which is built into both Photoshop and Lightroom is a great tool for processing your RAW images. But just winging it could take hours at worst or at best cause a lot of frustration.įor intermediate to advanced users, Photoshop may be what you need to bring your visions to life. You can’t just play around until you get something you like, you need to have a plan and Photoshop will help you execute that. Camera raw is pretty easy to get a handle on but once you open your image into Photoshop you need to know how to use Adjustment Layers, masking, other tools and why as well. There is no “start here” or handy presets you can push and be done. Photoshop is not easy, especially for beginners. Let’s look at how I’d rate Photoshop in each of the categories. You can do really cool stuff like this with Photoshop. I have been using it for nearly 20 years and I do not know how to use every tool, or anywhere near everything that there is to know about it. It can do pretty much anything to your images if you know how to drive it – but therein lies the trick! It comes with a very steep learning curve. There is no dispute that Photoshop is the master of all photo editing software. Here are the specs on these first: Photo editing softwarew comparison chart – Click to view full size. I’ve also given my thoughts on pros and cons for each. Average rating – Overall rating (one for beginners, one for intermediate) as an average of the items above.Extras – What extra special things can it do like HDR, pano, layer images, combine images, texture overlays, add text, etc?.Help – Are there good tutorials or help/support for the program? How helpful are they? Is there a support forum or Facebook group?.Browser – Is there a way to view images and sort, tag, catalog, flag and rate them? Can you browse images?.Import & Export Options – How easy is it to export (save) images? Especially for sharing, social media, email, resizing? How is data on RAW files saved?.Presets – Does it have presets? How many come with it? What is the quality like? Are they customizable? Are there others available for free or purchase?.Layers – Does it handle layers? How easy/hard is it to understand?.RAW – How good is the RAW processor? Ease of use, features? Image quality?.Ease of use out of the box – How easy is it to get started? Interface ease of use and functionality.I have used the following as my questions and rating criteria: Having over 20+ years of using Photoshop, Lightroom and various pieces of other photo editing software – I figured if I can’t figure it out easily (and need to watch 4-10 hours of video tutorials just to get it), what chance do you have? How I Tested I wanted to see how intuitive each program was when I opened it. I’ve approached this software review from the perspective of a total beginner. I will give you some of my thoughts and initial impressions of each program as well as rate them in eight different areas. Just to give you a reminder of how I’ve done these reviews. ![]() ![]() But when the synesthetic color mismatches the ink color, responses are slow, presumably because subjects need to resolve the conflict over which color name to respond with. When the synesthetic color matches the ink color, responses are fast. For lexical synesthetes, these words take on unique colors. In one such task, people are asked to say the color of the ink a word is printed in as quickly as possible (for example, responding "pink" to and "blue" to ). Thus, synesthetic color differences can facilitate performance on tasks in which real color differences facilitate performance for nonsynesthetes and can impair performance on tasks in which real color differences impair performance for nonsynesthetes. Research has documented that synesthetic colors are perceived in much the same way that nonsynesthetic individuals perceive real colors. Recent research, however, has documented the reality of synesthesia and is beginning to make headway into understanding what might cause such unusual perceptions. ![]() But synesthetes also report making computational errors because 6 and 8 have the same color and claim to prejudge couples they meet because the colors of their first names clash so hideously.įor too long, synesthetes were dismissed as having overactive imaginations, confusing memories for perceptions or taking metaphorical speech far too literally. Synesthetes report having unusually good memory for things such as phone numbers, security codes and polysyllabic anatomical terminology because digits, letters and syllables take on such a unique panoply of colors. ![]() For example, is both blue (real color) and light green (synesthetic color). Even more perplexing is that synesthetes typically report seeing both the color the character is printed in as well as their synesthetic color. Such synesthetic colors are not elicited by meaning, because 2 may be orange but two is blue and 7 may be red but seven is green. Different synesthetes may see 3 in yellow, pink or red. One rather striking observation is that such synesthetes all seem to experience very different colors for the same graphemic cues. Of the various manifestations of synesthesia, the most common involves seeing monochromatic letters, digits and words in unique colorsthis is called grapheme-color synesthesia. The estimated occurrence of synesthesia ranges from rarer than one in 20,000 to as prevalent as one in 200. What makes synesthesia different from drug-induced hallucinations is that synesthetic sensations are highly consistent: for particular synesthetes, the note F is always a reddish shade of rust, a 3 is always pink or truck is always blue. Synesthetes hear colors, feel sounds and taste shapes. Synesthesia is an anomalous blending of the senses in which the stimulation of one modality simultaneously produces sensation in a different modality. ![]() When you eat chicken, does it feel pointy or round? Is a week shaped like a tipped-over D with the days arranged counterclockwise? Does the note B taste like horseradish? Do you get confused about appointments because Tuesday and Thursday have the same color? Do you go to the wrong train station in New York City because Grand Central has the same color as the 42nd Street address of Penn Station? When you read a newspaper or listen to someone speaking do you see a rainbow of colors? If so, you might have synesthesia. Blake and Ren Marois of the psychology department and the Center for Integrative and Cognitive Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University study synesthesia. ![]() |
